I am a board-certified radiation oncologist, cancer survivor, best selling, award-winning author, inspirational speaker, wife and mother.

“Cancer was just my business, until it became my diagnosis.”

In December of 2014, my life changed forever.  After treating cancer patients for almost 20 years, In December of 2014 my life changed forever. After treating cancer patients for almost 20 years, I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself. Over the next year, I would have both of my breasts removed, endure 6 months of chemotherapy and 2 months of radiation, followed by removal of ovaries.

In 1 year, I lost my womanhood, my confidence, my self-esteem and my vehicle. I found 30 extra pounds, a boatload of debt, developed swelling in my right arm called lymphedema and I sank into a depression so deep, it required medication.

My goal for writing this blog…  is to help you look your best, feel your best and educate and inspire you to use your cancer journey as a springboard to create the extraordinary life you deserve.

My Professional Journey … I grew up in Cincinnati Ohio. I got my undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland. I received my medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and I completed a five-year residency training program in Radiation Oncology at University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute. I moved to Atlanta Georgia in 1998 and I have been treating cancer patients here for nearly 2 decades.

My Family…  I am the middle child of 5 children. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. My mother, (a 4 year breast cancer survivor) passed away 2 years ago from complications of kidney disease. My father still lives with me. My parents were married for 62 years. I am happily married to my husband Greg. We have a teenage son and a set of twin daughters.

Why The Beauty of Cancer®? Having cancer uncovered the many insecurities I had with myself before the diagnosis. Cancer forced me to confront these insecurities and deal with them head on. My mission is to show you the “real” Beauty of Cancer. I want to change the perception of what a cancer diagnosis really means. Just as hard sand creates a beautiful pearl, the journey through cancer treatment creates pearls of wisdom that I like to call “Beauty Secrets”.
