Reset your Body’s Balance…..Tune Fork Therapy?

Cancer treatment, has really affected my body in many ways. My muscles hurt. I feel tired. I have tingling in my toes and hot flashes. I’m on edge, and I’m having trouble sleeping. I didn’t want to take any more medication to help with these symptoms, so a friend suggested I try Tune Fork therapy.   It is designed to bring the body back into balance.

It is done using a series of tuning forks. It is said that tapping two tuning forks will instantaneously alter your body’s biochemistry and bring your nervous system, muscle tone and organs into harmonic balance. Within seconds, your body should enter a deep state of relaxation.

Being a medical doctor who isn’t trained in alternative medicine, I’m always a little skeptical of holistic, ancient techniques. But, I’m so miserable right now, I’m willing to try anything. So here is a brief look at my expeience.

I entered a dimly lit room with incense burning and soft music playing in the background. The 1 ½ hour session began with me lying down on a massage table. Then a tuning fork sounded and I began to feel vibration on the pressure points on my feet. I must admit, I quickly fell asleep, because I don’t remember anything else until I woke up about an hour later to sound vibrations real close to each ear. I heard chimes all around the room. Finally, the therapist lightly touches me on the shoulder signaling that the session was over.

I definitely got a good nap. The sound waves from the tuning forks are definitely relaxing and calming. I still have tingling in my feet and some achy muscles, but I did feel well rested and more energized. Was it the tune fork therapy or the nap that gave me more energy? I don’t know.

Overall, I enjoyed my session. It didn’t cure all my ailments, but it made me aware that I need to take more time for myself and relax.

What do you use to help you relax? Next , I’ll get a deep tissue massage.
