I didn’t realize the enormous toll cancer treatments put on your body. It is emotionally draining as you deal with physical, interpersonal and financial hardships that come with treatment and the side effects of treatment . The many months of sitting and lying around have really caused my body to get deconditioned. My muscles are weaker, my blood pressure is higher and my stamina is much less than before. Climbing steps and carrying bags of groceries is much harder. My clothes are getting tighter as my weight is creeping up on me. Anxiety is creeping in as I think about if the cancer is coming back. I don’t like this feeling.
I’m committing this next month to my return to wellness. This will be a physical , spiritual and emotional return to wellness. Each day this month I will do something that will refresh, inspire, motivate, or get my body moving. I invite you to come along with me on this journey. Whether you are all done with treatment or still undergoing treatment, you can benefit from this next month. I have outlined what I plan to do over the next month. Feel free to print out the calendar or follow along daily with me on instagram or facebook.
I will spend the first five minutes of every day reading God’s word. I will utilize the free downloadable app First5. The app has an alarm that is set to wake you up every morning. When you turn off the alarm, you will go straight into a 5 minute daily scriptural teaching. This helps us “ share whispers with God before exchanging shouts with the world.” Lysa Tekeurst.
Everyday I will say positive affirmations. I will incorporate 30 minutes of exercise for 30 days. I will make healthy dietary changes as well. Doing these things everyday for 1 month will not only help me feel better, but it will also help me to develop healthy, positive habits that will enhance my spiritual, physical and mental wellbeing as I live my life after breast cancer.
: I’ve always been beautiful, I’ve just decided to be fitter, faster, healthier and stronger.
